I recently obtained a StratoLogger SL100 from PerfectFlight.

Because this altimeter came with two outputs for recovery I started to design a new recovery system. This new recovery system would use the two outputs to first deploy a parachut at apogee the the second would open the parachute at a preset altitude. More on this in the Parachutes page.

The recovery system would also be made as  aerodynamic as possible. Knowing that the most aerodynamic shape for subsonic flight was the Elipsoid with a length 2x its width, I put the values into this 125-nosecones excel spreadsheet.

I created the mould with the device in the picture, more infomation here. The nose cone was made from paper mache.
